In this age of digital reproduction, what really separates a picture from a painting? If I can recreate the nuance of a painting within a photograph, what does it become? What does it mean for the painting? Is its labor devalued?
These are all pictures of domestic objects. See how they transcend, once blurred to the point of abstraction.

On the night of the wedding
Three-color screen-print, 30" x 50" repeat pattern on cotton, Spring 2022.
This pattern tells the story of a Jewish bride on her wedding night. Through her naive eyes, we are taken on a journey through snapshots of the intimate rituals of the Jewish marriage service and eventually arrive at the marital bed where she has her first sexual experience with her husband. Inspired by Victorian-era wallpaper and upholstery, this piece interrogates the relationships between marriage, purity, femininity, and the meaning of "home." The work was made during an apprentice at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia.
